Cypher Tools

Sixty-eight offline tools for PDFs, Office files, images, audio, video and archives. Drop a file, pick a tool, done.

v1.0.6Windows 10/11 (64-bit)Linux (x64)Android 10+Release only · source private

Cypher Store is the only true source for this app. Every official build of Cypher Tools comes from here. A copy from anywhere else — another site, a mirror, an APK forum — was not published by Kencypher, and nothing about what is inside it is guaranteed.

Windows may warn that the publisher is unrecognised, because the installer is not code-signed — choose More info, then Run anyway. On Linux, make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it. No installation and no root needed. Android blocks installs from outside the Play Store by default — when prompted, allow installs from your browser or file manager, then open the APK.

What Cypher Tools is

Cypher Tools is one toolbox for the file jobs that usually send you to a website: MP4 to MP3, Word to PDF, PDF to Excel, signing a PDF, shrinking photos, ZIP to RAR. Drop a file and it shows the tools that fit. All 68 tools run on your own device, with no account and no upload, and the result lands next to the original without touching it. On a PC it drives real engines: a bundled ffmpeg, Microsoft Office or LibreOffice, and WinRAR.

Cypher Tools features

What it actually does.

42 PDF tools

Edit existing text, fill and sign forms, make any PDF fillable, merge, split by pages, bookmarks, size or text, reorder and crop pages, OCR scans, compress, protect with AES-256, unlock and repair.

Office the real way

Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF through Microsoft Office itself, or LibreOffice when Office is not there, so the PDF looks the way the document does. PDFs go back to Word, Excel and PowerPoint too.

Audio and video

MP4 to MP3, any video to MP4, MKV, MOV, WEBM or AVI, audio to MP3, M4A, FLAC, WAV or OGG, plus compress, trim, mute, video to GIF and SRT, VTT and ASS subtitles.

Images, any format

Convert between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and iPhone HEIC photos, compress, resize, rotate, make animated GIFs, and strip GPS and camera details before you share a photo.

Archives both ways

Unpack ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR and ISO, and create ZIP, 7Z, RAR or TAR. ZIP to RAR and RAR to ZIP in one step, with real RAR compression when WinRAR is installed.

Your originals stay put

Nothing is uploaded and nothing is overwritten: road-trip.mp4 becomes road-trip.mp3 beside it, and a name that is taken becomes name (1). Damaged or mislabelled files are caught before a tool runs.

How to use Cypher Tools

From a fresh install to the thing working.

1 Install it

  1. Windows: run the installer. It installs to C:\Program Files\Cypher Tools, adds Start menu and desktop shortcuts, and can add “Open with Cypher Tools” to the right-click menu of every file.
  2. Linux: make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it. ffmpeg is inside it. AppImages need libfuse2, or start it with --appimage-extract-and-run.
  3. Android: open the APK and allow installs from your browser or file manager when asked.

2 Convert something

  1. Drop files or a whole folder on the window, paste with Ctrl+V, or press Browse files. The front page then lists only the tools that fit those files.
  2. Or go straight to a tool from the side bar, or search all 68 with Ctrl+K.
  3. Pick the options and press the button under them (Convert, Merge, Save PDF). Each file shows its progress, and Cancel stops cleanly at any point.
  4. The result is saved next to the original on a PC, or in Documents/Cypher Tools on Android. Open and Folder take you straight to it.

3 Make it yours

  1. Settings has two styles: Ghibli, with six painted scenes from a spring meadow to a bathhouse at dusk, and Cyberpunk.
  2. Choose light, dark or the system’s theme, and an accent colour.
  3. On a PC, results can go to one folder of your choice instead of beside each original.

4 When a tool says no

  1. Settings › Under the hood shows which engines this PC has: Office, LibreOffice, WinRAR and the bundled ffmpeg.
  2. Old .doc, .ppt and .rtf files need Microsoft Office or LibreOffice. Without WinRAR, RAR output is stored rather than compressed.
  3. A scanned PDF has no text to pull out. Run OCR on it first, then PDF to Word or Excel.

Licence

Made by Kencypher. Not open source.

Cypher Tools was written by Kencypher. The source is not published and is not licensed for reuse. You have permission to run it — that is the whole of it.

You may

  • Run it on as many of your own machines as you like
  • Use it for anything, including commercial work
  • Pass an unmodified copy to a friend, free

You may not, without asking

  • Sell it or charge for access
  • Re-upload or mirror it anywhere
  • Rebrand it or publish it as your own
  • Decompile it or lift its assets

This is enforced. Re-uploading it, repackaging it, stripping the author's name off it or passing it off as your own is copyright infringement — protected without registration under the Berne Convention — and is pursued with DMCA takedowns to the host, CDN, app store and search engine, platform reports for impersonation, and legal proceedings where the infringement is commercial, repeated, or involves falsely claiming authorship.

Asking first is free, and the answer is usually yes — kencypher56@gmail.com. The only official source is this store; a copy from anywhere else is not one Kencypher published.
